Ordering Options Outside the U.S.

Now that The Gilmore Girls Companion has been printed and has started to ship, we have a better idea of the ways that people can get a copy outside the U.S. If our experiences with past books is any indication, these options should only get better once the book has been selling for about a month or so.

Please note: The costs below are our best estimate given the information available to us from Amazon. Unfortunately, we have no information about VAT or import duties for different countries. Also, if you discover a discrepancy or some other problem, please drop us a line at asberman813 (at) gmail.com and we’ll let others know as soon as possible.

Outside the U.S. in General

The publisher recently put up an option for general overseas shipping, with a total price (including shipping) of $46 US.

Amazon.com

Though Amazon’s other sites will probably start listing the book in about a month or so, currently it’s only available through the U.S. (.com) site. Below are links to the shipping rates for different countries. If yours isn’t listed, please shoot me an email at asberman813 (at) gmail.com and we’ll get that info out there, too. Also note that if you buy it through a third-party company on the Amazon site, check with that company to determine what their shipping rate is. It may vary from Amazon’s.

Europe

It looks like shipping runs $3.99 per shipment and either $3.99 or $6 per book. (The $6 charge is applied for “heavy or bulky” items, but there’s no way to tell for sure until you order the book.) Here’s the info:

European final cost: $42.93 or $44.94

Canada

$4.99 per shipment and $3.99 per book.

Australia

That’s great! I’ll probably be asking for it as a birthday present so I can wait until it’s on the UK Amazon πŸ˜€

  2. December 14, 2010 at 9:44 am

Thanks, Stacey. When’s your birthday? I’m horrible with remembering these things, but you never know… πŸ˜‰

It’s the end of March, so there’s still a while left, but I like to make my list early, haha.

great. I hope the book will be available for a long time so I have time to save money:DD 45 dollars is quite a lot and apparently IΒ΄m not getting it for Christmas.

Katka, if you purchase this book on your own Santa Ele will be smad. So shush… πŸ˜‰

      • December 14, 2010 at 5:34 pm

Dang, you’re Santa Claus, too?! When do you sleep?

  4. December 14, 2010 at 9:56 am

    Hi Katka,

Sorry about that. I realize the price is pretty steep; I wish we could’ve brought it down a little, but at 480 pages it costs a fair amount to print, unfortunately. It should be available well into the future, though.

Aha! You know, I think I’m going to put this book on MY list to — kinda like to see it at some point πŸ˜‰

You know, earlier I wanted to write that I’m like the gum that sticks to your shoe. And that I wouldn’t leave you alone, until you had some kind of revelation about how to get the book hauled over the Atlantic. Then, I reminded myself to be patient, and to not go overboard regarding the fact that it’s nice to look at the Amazon.com page, but that it still doesn’t help ME much.
So, I looked up “The New Horror Handbook” and it says on Amazon.de that it was listed there 19 days after it was listed on Amazon.com. That’s reason for hope that maybe I could still get my hands on one before Christmas. I’m crossing my fingers, please cross yours for me, too!

  7. December 14, 2010 at 12:50 pm

Ours is a long and storied relationship, Zoran, going well beyond the gum-and-shoe model. (I had no idea it took 19 days for the NHH to be listed on Amazon.de — that’s good to know.)

As I mentioned in this entry, past experience has seen books appear on other Amazon sites after they’ve been on the U.S. one for some time. I think book sellers buy up a small quantity, then list them through Amazon’s other sites. I just hope they give people a break on the shipping accordingly. As always, I’ll let you all know when a new option opens up for international sales.

Thanks for sticking with us, Beth πŸ™‚ I can’t believe that it’s finally out there.

Oooh! Exciting! I have asked the birthday fairy for this tome, I can’t wait to see it! If she proves incapable of ordering online, I’ll be back in a couple of weeks πŸ˜‰

Congrats Aaron, it looks great πŸ™‚

    • December 15, 2010 at 7:17 am

Ah, the birthday fairy; their computer skills are always pretty hit or miss. When’s your birthday?

        December 15, 2010 at 9:06 am

It’s at the end of Jan (I’ve just realised I’ll be 25 on the 25th! Getting old! :P)

But yes, the computer literacy of the birthday fairy does leave a little to be desired! I’ll probably end up doing it myself after Christmas.

        I still can’t believe you’re all done!

  10. December 15, 2010 at 9:13 am

Congratulations, Claire. (And hats off to me for the clever way I had you confirm that you are indeed THAT Claire πŸ˜‰

Haha! I thought that’s why you were asking! (sly FB snoop!) A tip of the imaginary hat to you, kind sir! πŸ˜‰

Also, “THAT Claire” made me laugh πŸ˜›

  11. December 15, 2010 at 10:54 am

I only said “THAT Claire” because that’s the one who’s in the book; let’s see if you can find HER when it arrives.

Sorry to hear that, Santa Ele. Maybe you need to get the elves to shoulder more of the work. Ho, ho, zzzzzzzzz.
