The Incredible Growing Gilmore Book

A couple of days ago, we discovered something about this book that, on the one hand, made us feel better about the length of time it’s taken to put it together. And on the other, it made yours truly come a little unglued. That discovery is that this book isn’t just big, it’s going to be about 500 pages!!

On the plus side, that’s 500 pages of Gilmore Girls goodness; those who read it particularly closely may even be able to pinpoint the exact moment when art director Pamela Norman and I went just the teensiest bit insane.

On the less positive side, that means the publisher has been forced to bump the price up to $34.95 in the U.S., but will be honoring all pre-orders at the original price.

Now we’d best get back to this behemoth; just finishing up final edits on Season 3. And book: no more growing for you!!!

Sweet! So much Gilmore goodness to devour when it comes out! Also thankful I pre-ordered this a while back. Keep up the good work!

Thank you for pre-ordering, and the kind words, Kevin. But whisper when you talk about the pre-ordering; you might just make the publisher cry 😉

Any idea when this book will be available? I have looked on barnes and noble, amazon, etc and no one even seems to know what it is which is a tragedy.

It should go up on the Amazon.com site in the next week or two. For past books, it’s always gone up there two or three days before copies come back from the printer. Once it’s there, it will usually pop up on B&N, etc. You can also order it directly from the publisher at http://bearmanormedia.bizland.com/id386.html.

If you’re outside the US, it’s best to shoot me an email at asberman813 (at) gmail.com. We’re trying to figure out the least expensive way to honor international sales without getting people stuck with having to pay duties, etc. Thanks for writing 🙂

I am incredibly excited about this book – I hadn’t heard anything in a while, (I hadn’t thought about searching it, silly me) so I was afraid the project had stopped. I know that an exact date has not been set, but are you assuming it will be out by Christmas?

Thanks for checking in! And yes, being this close to completion, barring any unforeseen problems, it should definitely be out by Christmas. With a bit of luck, it will actually go to press by the end of next week. It’s been a long journey, but I hope everybody interested will feel that it was worth the wait.

Oh, Mr. Berman me thinks you’ve gone mad. 500 pages, just about the size of my history book! I guessed it would be about 250 maybe 300, but no it had to be 500. You know you’re making it hard for me to find the space on my bookshelf. I’m just kidding.

The size of the book will be a lot of reading fun for the fans and I guess that everyone will find at least something in it that they think is worth putting up a statue of you.

Hey, in this upcoming winter season the people should all take a shot at building their own “Aaron” snowman and put pictures of them on facebook. It could be like a contest. The price should be a little more than a set of new quarters, though.

If nothing else, I hope that if you’re having a difference of opinion with a friend over a Gilmore Girls fact, you can hoist this book up, open it to some random page as if it were a law book, and say “Well it says here in The Gilmore Girls Companion that you’re mistaken, friend.” And if your friend fails to relent, you can always hit them over the head with it. (Violence should never be your FIRST option…)

As for your snowman contest, I think I shall leave its organization to you, Zoran. You strike me as a fellow who can get things done.
