Friday Night Dinner 6
The sixth in a weekly look at the progress of The Gilmore Girls Companion as we round the bend on this 2+ year adventure.
Since June 2008, there’s been a lot of work put into the writing of this book, but very little sense of actually making progress on it. (Though who am I kidding, it’s been immense fun all the way.) You speak with people, do your research, write it one chapter at a time, but there’s seldom a sense of getting on top of the task.
That is until this week, when we finally started laying it all out. While there are still a few sidebars to write — well, quite a few, actually — and the whole beast has to be edited and polished, at least we’re getting some sense of what it will look like on the printed page. Art director (and my better half) Pamela Norman also started experimenting with cover designs yesterday, and that cover is already looking pretty exciting.
All of which is to say that after all this time, things are finally coming together on The Gilmore Girls Companion. For those of you who’ve hung in there to watch your’s truly hit the highs (usually after an interview) and the lows (catching a glimpse of all the work left to do), I really want to thank you. For those who’ve just discovered this book, I think you’re going to like what you see when all is said and done. With any luck, we’ll have some samples of the cover and/or the inside pages to show you in the next week or two.
With that said, I’m going to get back to it. Don’t forget to keep in touch, either through the comments section of this blog, at the Facebook page, or at asberman813 (at) gmail.com.
Now…who wants escargot?
