Enchanted ‘April’

I knew I was going to love talking with Vanessa Marano just a few seconds into our conversation today when she said, “No problemo.”

Yes, there are definitely similarities between Vanessa and Luke’s mystery daughter, April Nardini, but only a few. She turns 16 next month (April would be about 15), and she’s pretty darn smart — she’s already in college. That said, she’s the first to admit that she doesn’t have April’s fondness for math and science. Of course she did manage to memorize that Periodic Table song

She also was the first person I’ve spoken with from the show who was a big fan of Gilmore Girls before she ever set foot in Stars Hollow. That enthusiasm was still alive today as she described her experiences there, including the joys of putting on April’s funky bicycle helmet, and developing that special onscreen father/daughter chemistry with Scott Patterson.

And no, she has not seen Scott in Saw IV, thank you. Horror films are definitely an acquired taste.
